There are many reasons for moving to idyllic Örkelljunga. The community even offers an after hours kindergarten for parents working evenings, nights or weekends. The Educational Centre in Örkelljunga in conjunction with Lund university offers students in the area endless opportunities to study whilst living at home. Despite what you may have heard, learning to speak Swedish isn't too difficult and there are many options freely available for those prepared to give it a go regardless of age, education or current proficiency level.
Enjoying your leisure time isn't a problem in Örkelljunga. There are seventeen large lakes and countless ponds in the area, many with designated bathing places. Apart from swimming, these lakes also provide opportunities for ice skating in winter, canoeing and boating in summer and excellent fishing all year round.
The nearest ski slopes are just twenty minutes away and with plenty of moose, wild boar and deer in the forests there are many opportunities to hunt. The area also boasts excellent golf and leisure facilities and prides itself in being home to one of Sweden's best volleyball teams.
The National Swedish rowing centre is located at Hjelmsjö lake which is just a stone's throw from Örkelljunga town centre.
